Winners of the Short Form and PGA Innovation Awards Announced as part of the West Coast Celebration of the Producers Guild Awards taking place on February 8
Recipient of the Vance Van Petten Entrepreneurial Spirit Producing Award also announced at the West Coast Celebration
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Producers Guild of America hosted its annual West Coast celebration of the PGA Award nominees and their producing teams tonight at NeueHouse in Venice. The celebration is the second in a week’s worth of bi-coastal events culminating with the Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 8.
During the evening, winners for two of the PGA Awards categories were announced. The producing team for Shōgun – The Making of Shōgun was presented with the award for Outstanding Short Form Program and the producing team for Orbital was presented with the PGA Innovation Award, which celebrates outstanding entertainment endeavors across VR, AR, experiential and other emerging media. The remaining Producers Guild Awards winners will be announced at the annual award show on Saturday, February 8 at The Fairmont Century City.
Additionally during the evening, Deborah Calla was presented the Vance Van Petten Entrepreneurial Spirit Producing Award, which is named after the PGA’s former national executive director.
In attendance during the West Coast celebration were producing team members from 62 nominated productions and PGA guests including: Hiroyuki Sanada, Charles Roven, John Ira Palmer, Nick Gordon and Brian Young. William Grant & Sons was the spirits sponsor of the event. The Producers Guild Awards West Coast Celebration was also supported by Waymo.
The PGA Innovation Award is juried and not voted on by the membership of the Producers Guild. This year’s jury was led by Joanna Popper (Executive Producer, Finding Pandora X, Breonna’s Garden, Master of Light) and Eric W. Shamlin (CEO, Secret Level). The complete blue ribbon jury included:
