Sixty-five countries now offer national-level film and TV incentives to drive productions overseas. Now, we have a chance to level the playing field with last week’s introduction of the Bipartisan Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act (MPTERA).

The Producers Guild of America has been advocating for a stackable, federal incentive for years, and we recently intensified our efforts alongside a new industry coalition. Now, we must act to bring this bill across the finish line.

The timeline for this bill is extremely tight. Depending on how the legislative session winds down, we may need a vote as soon as November.

This bill is supported by every major guild, union, and association, the studios and more. There is broad agreement that this legislation will bring production back to the U.S.
