STACKABLE PRODUCTION INCENTIVES AVAILABLE NOW IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA

Minnesota is crewing up, gearing up, and stocking up on incentives. Larger films like North Country, Iron Will, and The Good Son previously enjoyed Northern Minnesota-nice communities, breathtaking locations, and hardworking crew.  Now, combinable incentives plus the strong local arts industry, such as the Catalyst Content Festival (Sept 29-Oct 2), make this a great place to produce.  Interested projects can inquire:  admin@uppermidwestfilmtv.org, call 218-461-1628 or join us at Catalyst Festival to take in the power of the region! 

INCENTIVE #1: The Upper Midwest Film Office (UMFO) has $500,000 remaining in 2021 for its 25% cash rebate incentive available for above and below the line approved production expenses. This regional program makes the creation of film, television, commercial, and digital media content affordable and attractive in beautiful St Louis County, MN. Funded at $1,000,000 a year, the program is anticipated to renew on January 1, 2022.

INCENTIVE #2: An additional new regional incentive offering a 20% rebate funded up to $500,000 a year is expected on January 1, 2022. Details will be released HERE via UMFO as soon as they are available (Fall 2021).  

INCENTIVE #3: The MN State Production Rebate reimburses up to 25% of eligible Minnesota production expenditures.  This program is funded at $500,000 a year and still has funds available.  Those funds renew on July 1, 2022.  

These rebates are combinable.  

INCENTIVE #4: The state of MN has a new 25% transferrable tax credit funded at $5,000,000 a year.  This program is expected to be open for application later this calendar year.  Details will be released HERE.
