FALL 2024

From Marc Porterfield: Our latest film THE LINE starring Alex Wolff, Halle Bailey, Austin Abrams, Angus Cloud, Bo Mitchell, Lewis Pullman, Scoot McMairy and John Malkovich opens wide this Friday. Great reviews in the NY TIMES.

PGA Members Arthur O. Thomas and Nigel P. Miguel of Belize Global Media will host the SeriesFest Writers Room in Belize from November 4th to 8th. This immersive event offers writers a unique opportunity to develop their projects in a collaborative environment while engaging with industry professionals. This will be a transformative experience that celebrates storytelling and creativity in the heart of Belize! This is the first of a 3-year event.

Uga Carlini, Towerkop Creations, nominated for BEST FEATURE DOCUMENTARY, for ‘Beyond the Light Barrier’ (Amazon Prime), narrated by John Kani (Black Panther, Murder Mysteries), in the annual SAFTAS (South African Film and Television Awards) to be hosted, 26th of October, Johannesburg, South Africa.

From Kate McCallum: So pleased to announce that the two award-winning fulldome films I produced which are distributed through our company WORLDS have hit the 1M tickets sold mark since our first opening in the fall of 2018!


2024

September 2024
Marah Strauch has a documentary, “Space Cowboy,” she produced and directed, which has its world premiere at TIFF.
 
From Jamieson Shea: Holiday indie dark comedy MERRY GOOD ENOUGH (starring Raye Spielberg, Sawyer Spielberg and Joel Murray) has landed a UK release and international distribution through Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment. The film, produced by Jamieson Shea, Dan Kennedy and Krista Minto and will see a wide US push this holiday season.

 

Week of 7/22/24
Emily Troedson recently wrapped production on a dark comedy short film, RAGE RHONDA, that she wrote, directed, and produced through her company, Goat Song Films. The story follows Rhonda who starts therapy after her mother dies to deal with her “toxic, high-stress job” as a mobster.
 
From Gary Hall: After retirement, I now teach television inside Los Angeles County Jail through Hollywood Impact Studios.

 

Week of 7/8/24
From Sarah Katz: I worked as archival producer with Anonymous Content and Even/Odd Studios on We Are Ayenda. The documentary took home one Grand Prix, two Gold, one Silver and one Bronze at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2024!
 
From Jen Sall: I directed and produced The Reboot: A Fight Club Story, filmed at WET Studios in Burbank, CA using Unreal Engine. This was my first time filming in a Volume – indie films can use volumes too!

 

Week of 6/10/24
PGA member Barbara Hall is a recipient of the Proof of Concept Accelerator program, launched by Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini of Dirty Films and Dr. Stacy L Smith of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. The group selected 8 Narrative and 3 Documentary projects to support with funding, mentorship and exposure.
 
From Sasheen Artis: I am so proud to be part of the producing team on the documentary Saving Moms. We received an LA Area Emmy nomination. Black maternal health remains a critical issue in this country. Thanks to KCET for supporting this project and amplifying this story!
 
Gregory Lamberson has begun pre-production on Frenzy Moon, his tenth feature as producer-director, from his own screenplay. Principal photography begins in September outside Buffalo, New York.

From Xurui Wang: I recently completed my first Spanish content feature. I build a lot of connections with Latino market producers which helps me a lot with selling and distribution. I am really proud to be a member of PGA!

From Lynda Goldman at MGI News Productions: Letter to a Pig, a short documentary by Tal Kantor, is nominated for an Oscar.
 
Nadia Sarmova would like to share a free virtual panel, Mental Health Movies in the Making, happening on Thursday, March 21st. The panel features filmmakers who are pouring their hearts into projects that tackle sensitive mental health themes and explores how they are approaching these conversations with care, both for their audiences and along the creative journey.

 

Week of 1/15/24
Linda Evans‘s new feature film, Tripped Up, just left theaters and is now available on VOD in the US. Universal released it internationally on November 20th.

2023

Week of 9/25/23
Robert Rippberger‘s new stop-motion animated film THE INVENTOR, directed by Ratatouille writer Jim Capobianco, and starring Stephen Fry, Daisy Ridley and Marion Cotillard will be releasing in U.S. theaters on Friday, September 15th.
 
From Michael Reichenberg: My new series Last Resort is now airing on Max and TLC every Monday. It had the highest rated Cable TV premiere of an unscripted show since 2020 and is currently in the Max top 10 most watched shows. It represents a new direction for the 90 Day Fiance franchise.
 
From Chris Stinson: The Holdovers comes out in theaters in Los Angeles and NY on October 27th and nationally on November 10th. Check it out. We’re very proud to have been a part of the Producing team.
 
PGA Member, Tanya Cabral, helped Production Supervise on the 17th season of, “What Would You Do?” with John Quinoñes. TV Show is expected to air in Fall 2023 and early 2024 on ABC. More info to come

 

Week of 7/31/23
From Billy Greenfield: I just wrapped on an Indie unscripted series, “Jere and the Bandit” shot in Mt. Pleasant, Texas about the developer of the Bandit Truck, a high-performance homage to the Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am who after the death of a close friend has devoted himself to helping others in his community.

 

Week of 7/17/23
PGA member Evan A. Marshall has launched a podcast with filmmaker Alex Goldberg. Creativity Unraveled digs into the pitfalls of choosing a creative career. Season one has launched and includes intimate chats with artists, comedians, musicians, and even a fellow PGA member. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.
 
From Bob Frye: My latest documentary entitled “In Search of Resolution” is being released via American Public Television on August 1st. It is the story of nuclear weapons and the third piece in my Nuclear World project.

PGA member and Award-winning filmmaker Robert Rippberger has broke ground with filmmaker Devin Keaton on the soon-to-be largest film studio in North Carolina, ASCENT STUDIOS.
 
Unbillievable,” a feature comedy about a family of die hard Buffalo Bills fans, wrapped principal photography in Buffalo, New York. Written and directed by former National Lampoon editor Scott Rubin, the film was produced by Rubin, co-directorJ. Garrett Vorreuter, and new member Gregory Lamberson.
 
PGA Member Michael Justin Lee has just had his fifth Concept EP released on all the global streaming sites. All are Rock Opera interpretations of classical literature. His first was “Romeo and Juliet” and his newest is “Lady Macbeth,” the Shakespearean play from her perspective.

Shauna D. Balfour Anderson is producing two films with director, Mark Harris. First: Romance “South Haven” and it stars Denyce Lawton, Karon Joseph Riley, Dawn Halfkenny and Rodney Perry. Second: a political thriller called “Black Cats.” Stars Erica Hubbard, Barton Fitzpatrick, Carl Gilliard, Teresa Celeste, Starlyn Stratton & Darrin D. Henson.
 
Shanti Fiennes (niece of Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes) has been cast as Princess Diana in the upcoming dramatic feature ‘Diana In Love‘. The 90’s drama follows Princess Diana on a secret trip to Malibu to start a new life away from the Royal media circus. Produced, written & directed by PGA member Brent Roske.
