SAG-AFTRA’s Producer Portal Makes Signatory Process Easier Than Ever
Site Provides Round-the-Clock Access to a Production’s Status
LOS ANGELES (May 30, 2025) – SAG-AFTRA has unveiled a new online tool to help producers with the signatory process. The Producer Portal, now in second-stage beta, makes managing the paperwork of union-signed film productions a breeze. The portal allows producers to upload and download documents, check the status of forms they have submitted, quickly locate updated contact information for their assigned business rep, and see at a glance what still needs to be done for purposes of clearance and security deposit return.
Other features include a centralized location for all correspondence, easy access to template documents like cast lists, day out of days, sign-in sheets, W-9s and more, and the ability to delegate and control access levels for team members across projects.
The portal was crafted with the input of producers and the aim of streamlining the signatory process, particularly for indie filmmakers. Additional features and refinements will be rolled out based on feedback SAG-AFTRA receives from producers.
“Signing with SAG-AFTRA has never been easier,” said SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. “The Producer Portal gives creatives the tools to spend less time on paperwork and more time realizing their artistic vision.”
“Filmmakers have told us they wanted a smoother process for signing professional union talent on their productions, and we’re excited to deliver on that,” said SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. “With everything in one place on the Producer Portal, there’s no longer a need to track documents in multiple email chains — and the information is available 24/7.”
“The Producer Portal is a meaningful solution for independent producers, simplifying the signatory process and saving valuable time,” said Producers Guild of America Chief Executive Officer Susan Sprung. “We’re proud to collaborate with SAG-AFTRA on a tool that not only streamlines the process but also empowers producers as they bring their creative visions to life. Our thanks to the entire SAG-AFTRA team, the PGA Independent Film Producers Task Force and IFTA for their hard work and dedication to this important project.”
“The Producer Portal is a major step forward for independent producers navigating the SAG-AFTRA processes,” said Independent Film & Television Alliance President & CEO Jean Prewitt. “This platform offers a transparent and accessible system for producers to track compliance amid the inherent challenges of production — from shifting schedules and changing personnel to uncertainties around requirements. The portal lets producers spend less time on paperwork and more time on creating. SAG-AFTRA’s commitment to this initiative strengthens its relationship with the independent sector and fosters greater confidence in the process. We commend SAG-AFTRA for its yearslong dedication to this project and thank the Producers Guild of America and IFTA’s members for their support.”
The Producer Portal is now live for several contracts, including Theatrical (Basic or CBA), Low Budget Agreement (LBA), Ultra Low Budget Project Agreement (UPA) and Moderate Low Budget Project Agreement (MPA). Access to the Producer Portal is granted as part of the signatory application process for producers working on projects under these contracts.
Additional entertainment contracts will be added in the future.
