Producers Guild Calls for Industry Transition to Clean Energy

PGA Internship Application
2026

Producers Guild of America (PGA) is the non-profit trade organization representing over 8,400 professional members working across 32 unique credits in film, television and emerging media.

PGA represents, protects and promotes the interests of all members of the producing team. Ongoing efforts include a groundbreaking Healthcare Initiative that calls on studios, streamers and production companies to expand essential benefits for producers. PGA also advocates for fair financial structures, employment opportunities, and competitive tax incentives that ensure the continued vitality of domestic production.

PGA invests in its core values, working to improve the culture and sustainability of the entire entertainment industry, and to create viable pathways into the Guild for the next generation of producers, particularly those from populations underrepresented in the industry. The Guild offers free training, tools, mentoring and education, as well as industry events that honor excellence in producing. In addition, it provides the Producers Mark (p.g.a.) for feature-length productions, a certification available to both members and non-members at no cost.

Internship Overview

PGA’s Internship Program is designed to inspire and engage the next generation of producers and leaders within the entertainment industry. During the course of the program, interns will learn about the core initiatives of the Guild and hear from a variety of members working across the 32 unique producing credits within its membership. In addition to supporting events and ongoing projects, all interns are also invited to monthly professional development programs specifically designed for them as well as weekly lunches with the entire staff.

The goal is for interns to complete the semester with a deeper understanding of the issues facing working producers today and greater clarity about the important and unique role that producers play in the development, production and distribution of all film, television and emerging media.

This is a for-credit only internship. There is no honorarium. The Guild does, however, cover parking at the Los Angeles office and in-office lunch at both offices with the staff every Tuesday.

Available Opportunities

  • In-person at the PGA office and local events: Los Angeles / West LA (two internship opportunities) and New York City / Times Square (one internship opportunity)
  • Virtual: U.S.-based and only for those attending a school based outside of Los Angeles or New York City. (one internship opportunity)

What Interns Can Expect

  • Monthly Professional Development Session on PGA Initiatives During Each Month of the Semester

Regardless of where an intern’s location is based, the Guild holds one monthly professional development program to which all interns are invited. The roundtables are deep dives covering three of the Guild’s core initiatives, including: promoting sustainability (concrete ways in which producers can lighten their production’s footprint and lower costs by utilizing sustainable production concepts at any budget level); promoting a safe and equitable set culture (sample tools and forms to use on indie productions) and understanding the meaning of professional producing credits and how various festivals and awards bodies recognize the work of producers.

  • Twice Per Semester Professional Development Roundtable with PGA Members

The Producers Guild has 31 member groups - from affinity groups to those spanning indie producers, innovation, physical production and post, animation, documentary, VFX, video game and more. Twice during the semester, staff will convene an informal roundtable discussion for interns to meet some of the leaders of these PGA member groups over Zoom so that they may share their individual producing journeys, their perspectives on opportunities today and in the future, and answer questions which interns might have about producing as a career.

  • Weekly Networking Lunch with Producers Guild Staff

Both offices have weekly team-building lunches with staff leadership and members from every department. Lunch is provided for interns. These in-person gatherings take place on Tuesdays and provide interns with the perfect opportunity to foster professional relationships across the staff while participating in timely discussions about the industry and current trends.

  • Support Ongoing Projects and In-Person Events

In-person Guild events include: Official Screenings and Q&As with producers (Year-round, LA and NY); monthly in-office Morning Member Mingles (Year-round, LA and NY); holiday networking celebration for PGA members (Winter in LA and NY); Produced By Conference (Spring/Summer in LA); Nominee Events for Producing Teams for the PGA Awards (Winter in LA and NY); PGA Innovation Awards Showcase (Winter in LA). Ongoing projects include: research and support in the execution of PGA’s Producing Is A Job and New Member campaigns on social and in our quarterly Produced By magazine; research and support of the Guild’s Producers Mark certification process, among others.

Internship Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a film, television or other media-related degree program. Priority will be given to those in producing tracks or focus within their degree program.
  • The internship requires 15-16 hours per week. Internship schedules are finalized following acceptance and once the student’s schedule for the semester is known. Typically, the Guild recommends a minimum of four hour blocks per day for an internship schedule. Blocks typically work best in the afternoon (e.g., lunch time or later) through early evening hours for interns working in both of our offices that may also support events which occur in the evenings.
  • Students must be able to receive credit for the internship. Any paperwork required by the school in order to document successful completion, should be shared at the start of the semester’s internship.

Deadlines to Apply and the Selection Process

  • October 8 for the Spring 2026 Semester (notification of acceptance week of October 27)
  • January 5 for the Summer 2026 Semester (notification of acceptance week of January 19)
  • April 30 for the Fall 2026 Semester (notification of acceptance week of May 4)

Brief interviews will be conducted over Zoom with final candidates. All internships will be confirmed no later than two weeks following the deadline for submission. PGA will notify every applicant of the decision.
